Is it the D-Link DIR-825 Xtreme N Dual Band Gigabit Router?
I like Linksys better but the D-Link seems to have gooten better reviews. Does the simultaneous dual band work. I got a new laptop from Sony with I think a 5010 agn card.

The Linksys Wireless-G WRT54GX2 and Belkin G-Plus MIMO F5D92304 are two of the best on the market with the Linksys being the fastest. Depending on the material you are trying to get the signal through, that might explain your poor signal.
If you are going to run more cable, you might as well move the wireless router near the PC and hardwire the PC to it and use the wireless for an laptop/handhel devices.
I use a d-link dir-655 router,(for gamers) and it works really good have never lost a signal ever. Depends on how much you want to spend.
