Is this feasible? Are there motion-sensitive wireless webcams out there? Can I see them with Skype too?
It’s just so I can keep an eye on some property when I’m away

yes there are also many programs that record when they see motion so you can record it when you go out somewhere search tucows.com I sware I saw something for free
Yes in theory. you just buy a bunch of cameras and speakers spread throughout your house near windows and doors all controlled by your computer. Have them scream bloody murder if motion is detected. however its just better to go with a security company like ADT or something. Most webcams come with motion detection alarm software or at least my vibra webcam did
I think we can. Actually you got a revoloutionery idea but not a cost effective and time saving. And ofcourse motion sensors would be a no no. Ok you wud need a set of cameras that are connected to a PC. The PC should be always connected to high speed internet and encrypted use any server OS like windows server 2003 or any good distro of Linux which is well known for server OS ( I would suggest a server OS as it has got extended security features and database options ) and then you can take a remote access of this computer using a PDA thats 3G enabled prefreblly windows based or a laptop connected to internet. And then you can watch whats happening at your home sitting at some coffee shop.
;)
Cheers mate.
actually linksys and d-link offer wireless security solutions to hook into your home wireless 802.11g network many are availible through local electronic retailers such as best buy and i belive linksys has models that will notify your cell phone when there is movement detected at location..bs rmccw
You can use wireless webcams, but you need to keep some things in mind. Anything wireless can be unreliable because they are made to accept any interference. Things can interfere with something wireless include cell phones, wireless land phones, microwaves, wireless internet routers, walls, people, etc… You can see the list is long. I recommend hard wired IP camera. If you need to record the data you can get regular security cameras and then a DVR that is networkable. The DVR also allows you to set up motion detection recording that send you emails snap shots pictures. Then all you need is 1 static IP address and you can view all of your cameras at once and if something were to happen you view or offload prior recordings. I have included a link below to a great company called Security Cameras Direct. They have great customer service and great pricing. They’ll have everything you’ll need.
