If I hook up my computer to my router via ethernet cable and wireless connection will it be faster?

would it be just as fast to have just the ethernet cable hooked up to it or would it be faster with the wireless thing too?

when your computer access the internet it can only use 1 connection at a time
ethernet is usually faster because theres no interference

If you mean to hook them up at the same time…no, windows does not do load balancing. I assume that this is also concerning internet browsing speed, which wireless or wired, you will see no difference in speed.

Just hook it up via the ethernet cable. It is slightly faster and requires less CPU.
You can disable or remove the wireless driver on your computer if you won’t be needing the wireless adapter elsewhere.

You can’t run two network adapters at one time. It has to be using wired, or wireless, not both simultaneously. Typical ethernet cards are 10/100Mbps, where some wireless cards are faster. I have transferred files using a laptop with a wireless 10/100 Mbps adapter and a desktop with a 10/100 Mbps adapter and the wired/ethernet connection was faster. You can get faster wirelss adapters but they cost more.

No, it will automatically use the fastest one, anyway, internet traffic is so small compared with any of your 2 connections that it will not make any difference wish one youre using.

    Use the cable. Much faster

Yes because there isn’t as much interfeirence as a regular phone line.

Ethernet is generally faster than wireless. But you have to be near the the router…

Remember though, if you are trying to speed up your connection to the Internet, it doesn’t matter — your cable or DSL will be slower than a decent wifi or any ethernet connection.

yes you can run both at the same time. which one is faster is kinda moot, your cable modem only runs so fast so what ever you are trying to run thru it is going to throttle down. pc are not great load balancers, in fact you can get in trouble because you can start a conversation on one ip address and then continue it on the other, this can cause any number of retries and cause problems. what i do is I am connected via the modem directly using a pure internet address, and then I am connected wirelessly to access the machines inside my router set up including my ethernet printers. why i don;t need to print, i disable the wireless, then when i need it i turn it back on. routers will slow download speeds so that’s why i do it.

This is really a simple matter of facts….

What speed are you paying for 5MB/15MB/50MB ???

Most current Networks can handle 100MB (ethernet cable)
    (max’ing out your connection)
    Wireless Connection B card max’d 11 MB
    G card Max’d 54 MB
(give or take a few MB’s)

Once you max out the speed your paying for, you can have 20 connections, you not gonna go any faster…

So look at what you are payin for,
is your equipement (NIC/Card) rated higher than your speed.

If you already both to a speed test with both and find out..

But what the others have said, ethernet is more reliable., no interference from the “air waves”.

    anywho hope this helps
