I want to know it he router type affects the speed of a broadband connection to wireless computers? Hi, I have a smallish home network. Some devices are hard wired others wireless. The speed is OK, but I want it faster for the laptops. I have a linksys wireless g router and a Motorolla surfboard modem. Will swapping out one or both will make an impact on speed? advice? swapping out your devices won’t make a difference. your wireless is going to be 10x faster than your cable connection, so even if have a crappy wireless router that only runs at 50% efficiency, you’re still operating 5x faster than your cable connection.
