Is 48-54 Mbps a fast speed for a wireless broadband internet connection?

I’m not sure if this is a fast speed or not, it seems like it should be, but more often that not my internet acts slugish and seems to be running extremely slow.

I seriously doubt you are getting a 48-54 Mbps internet conection through wireless internet. That sounds more like the speed of a wireless router which is not an internet connection but a means of sharing an internet connection.

Where exactly are you that you’re getting 50mbps a second connection speed? Even cable internet is only 6 – 12mbps.

Anyway, at that speed you should have no problems with net speed. Possabily theres some adware or spyware on your computer slowing it down, because if those numbers are right it isnt your connection.

check over the other settings in the router for threshold and whatever and be sure they match the adapters settings … also if u dont have security enabled half the neiborhood is probably pirating with ur connection …

Thats the speed if you wireless G. card.
In order to get a faster from modem to wi-fi router
you need to get N after the standards are set.
You can get n Now but the specs are totally ready.

Do a speed test on your home computer & laptop here

When you say 48-54 Mbps, what you are talking about is the wireless connection to your router. Yes, that’s about as fast as you are going to get from wireless G. What is making your internet slow is NOT your wireless connection. It’s the connection to your ISP. I used to have a cable modem that was a 1Mbps connection. So my wireless router was faster than the cable modem connection. If you check with your provider, I’m certain you have a connection that is about that fast. I recently switched to Qwest DSL and it’s a 1.5Mbps connection. There is a noticeable difference in the speed, but it still is quite a bit slower than my Linksys wireless G router.
