Do i need a linksys wireless network card to match the one on our wireless router?

I want to know because i’m thinking about buying one, due to the fact that we have 4 computers in the house and we have 4 network cables running through each computer. I thought maybe if i buy a wireless card for my computer , it can run faster. But what i wanna know is, do i have to buy a specific brand model of a wireless card that matches the router( I HAVE A LINKSYS) that I’m using.

No. Typically any wireless card will work of any router. But you do kow that your desktops if you have any, are probably not wireless and will require a wireless reciever to be installed. Usually on one of the PCI ports inside the ‘Tower’. Hope this helps.

If you want to waste your money, send it to me. Why would you replace a hardwired network with a wireless one unless you needed the portability of wireless. You might consider going with a faster or later model router. However, my guess is your comptuers are full of spyware, your registry is corrupt, and you need to tune them all up… and thats what’s slowing you down..

The only reason a wireless router would make your network run faster is that it would be a newer and faster model, not that it is wireless…

no not really.. you can connect to any router with any brand of wireless network cards… every card will connect to the router, as long as you have the network key on hand…

it is better to keep to the same manufacture because their equipment is made to run/work better you could use another wireless card, if you so wished, but the would be no advantage in doing so, plus if you need Linksys support it would be easier for them to talk you through the setup. than it would if you was using another product with their router..

Im not sure why you would have 4 cables to each system, should only need one per system.(unless im reading your statement wrong.) But to answer the main question no it does not have to be a linksys wireless card.
