I want to buy a good, reliable, and secure wireless router. Which ones are the best? Price not an option. I have fiber-optic connection with 14Mb/s download speed and about 1.1Mb/s upload. Yes I’m lucky to have a fast speed. Live in a relatively rural area with fiber-optic connection!
I want something that won’t slow things down. At least as fast as my wired internet connection.
I like the Belkin brand, but don’t really care to change.

The best one is the Netgear WNDR3700 and it is quite expensive at $170 but definitely worth it because you will likely not need to replace it for 5 years or more. It also has the best wireless throughput and wireless range/coverage extending usually 20% further than other routers in its class especially in the 5Ghz band. It has great automatic QoS and can handle 140+ wireless clients and supposedly 300,000 tcp connections without crashing (which is a lot). It would be the best with LAN clients that run multiple P2P applications.

After that, the Dlink DIR-655 (only 2.4Ghz band), but the Netgear is way better, but to be fair the 655 is two years older than the netgear.
For $60, the Dlink DIR 625 or 628 is a good candidate with great automatic QoS

Belkin is actually a bad brand when it comes to wireless performance.
I use a d-link gaming router and I think this one is the best. The main thing I love about this is the built in screen so I don’t have to use a computer to troubleshoot my network problems. I can see if someone is leeching my internet by looking at network traffic. This router has dual band (2.4ghz or 5ghz) and supports wireless N. I can filter websites, make my broadcast invisible, mac address filter, or even filter connections (just wireless N, G, B, N&G, G&B, or N&B).
