CLEAR wireless connection problems?

We moved and we switched our internet service to CLEAR.. well we have 2 comps and this one is the main where we have the CLEAR directly connected and when we bought it the guy said that if we have a wireless router on the second comp then it can connect to the CLEAR modem. But it’s not working? The wireless router we have isn’t CLEAR (linksys) and we also have 2wire.

While trying to fix the problem (and getting little to no help from the customer service) we came across something called bridging? Would we need to do that with this? And also it says that it’s Wimax..(the CLEAR) don’t really know what that means.

So yeah. help please? I’m dying w/o internet and obviously I’m not all that comp smart so dumb it down please haha?

The disconnect the cable from the computer and connect it to the Internet connection of the linksys router. Turn off the radio in your linksys and get two Ethernet cables (straight through and not cross-over cables). It is possible that your router will work with either type of cable, but if you are buying them get straight through cables as they will work. Connect the cables from one of the Ethernet ports on the router to the computer’s Ethernet port, and then connect the other one the same way. You should have no trouble with Internet to both computers.
If you have wireless capability on the computers then you will need to figure out how to set up the proper security on the computers and on the router. If you need more information, then you will need to tell us the computers that you are using and the type of router (G or N).

    Good luck.

You don’t need to use a bridge.

Here is how you can accomplish what you want to do:

    You will need:
Total of 3 Ethernet cables AKA Cat5e (straight through NOT crossovers)
    One Linksys Router
    Two computers
    One DSL/Cable connection.

    How To:
Plug the black power cable into the linksys router.
It sounds like you have the internet going directly into one computer.
Disconnect the ethernet cable(looks like a wide telephone cable) from the back of this computer.
Plug this ethernet cable into the Linksys router in the port labeled “WAN” OR “Internet”
Go have a cup of coffee.
The back of the router will also have 4 ports labeled 1 through 4.
Take one of the other ethernet cable and plug it into one of the computers and plug the other end in router port labeled 1.
Take the last ethernet cable and plug one end in the other computer and the other end into the router port labeled 2.
This should get you squared away. If neither computer will work try unplugging the power from the modem (the box with the phone/cable wire going into it). Wait 10 seconds and plug it back in.

What you are wanting to use is a small local area network to enable multiple computer so connect using the same internet connection.

Your question eludes to what is called “Internet Connection Sharing” and although this sounds like what you want to do it definitely is not going to be a easy solution to your problem. You don’t want to piggy back the internet from one computer to the other… its possible but very hard to setup and takes 2 network cards on the host computer.

You want the internet to go from the wall to your modem to your router.
Then plug each computer to the router.

    Good Luck,
    Rick
