How does one connect an iPod Touch to a laptop but not the internet via WiFi in Vista?

I wish to connect my iPod to my laptop for using things such as the remote feature, but as such can only do that with an internet connection.

I’ve been looking around to find programs such as Connectify and Virtual Router which create a virtual WiFi environment to allow for devices to connect directly with the laptop/computer, but it would seem these only work with Windows 7.

I was wondering if anybody knew of a similar program that would enable this for Vista?

Thanks.

well if your laptop has built in wifi than you can set up your own network with just that wireless card. (but you wont be able to access the internet)
from there just connect the that network and there ya go
    good luck!
