I JUST FEEL UNSAFE WITH WIRELESS BEC. OF HACKERS AND PLUS I DON’T KNOW MUCH ABOUT COMPUTERS AND WIRELESS

Hey guys,

I was wondering if which OS should I be getting: OS X Snow Leopard, Windows 7 Ultimate, Ubuntu 10 (or Ubuntu Ultimate 3.0) for scientific/engineering computation?

What I know I will be doing is 3D modeling, simulation, physics simulation, HE Physics, Quantum Mechanics, Data crunching, Algorithms, Programming (both High and Low Level), image/video analysis, conversion of natural algorithms (Image, Audio, Video into pure data), research/analysis maybe on the unknown/unseen/beyond (hard to explain), being able to customize and create specialiazed functions, hacking/cracking/modifying, etc.

Also don’t forget aside from education and work, Im gonna need a multimedia OS, and a gamming platform along with my console and also do Office and Socializing works.

I want a easy learning curve but also be able to learn advance stuff, maybe even modifying the kernals to create my own OS.

Note before I buy my laptop, i want to test it out on my desktop (might even take my desktop with me). Specs:

-Intel Core 2 Quad @ 2.33GHz
-6GB RAM
-500GB SATA
-nVidia Gefore 9500GS
-802.11 k/b or n (idk really lol) wireless
-HP Monitor 1600 x 1050 (capable of full HD 1080P)
Im fine with dual boot, i currently have windows 7 ultimate pre-installed on my desktop and i got a spare 500GB HDD

Apple is good at marketing and selling itself as a lifestyle brand but that is about it. I am a diehard apple fan. Apple says it’s because 3G drains the iphone battery . However, there is news on the horizon of a new 3G iphone. Apple did an upgrade which was supposed to make the unlocking software obsolete. It seems that these software developers may be able to overcome any locking features Apple may introduce.
Apple did an “upgrade” which was supposed to make the unlocking software obsolete. The “anonymous developers” quickly “upgraded” the unlocking software. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has issued a statement regarding the iphone price drop in the Apple site. Recently, this 2008, rumors are rife that Apple might yet again issue another iPhone price drop. Apple is probably not worried, especially since they are so close to releasing the next iPhone that will solve all the original iPhone complaints. All I know for sure is that if anyone wants to give me a Bold, I would not refuse it.
Apple will launch and sell apps through the new App Store. When you purchase an app you will be given an electronic certificate. Apple is like the tight agressive player in poker . For years and years they’ve built up their reputation as a quility producer. Apple, the creator of iPod, is also the genius behind this new gadget.The iPhone, though it is an integration of a mobile phone and a portable multimedia player, has better multimedia features than the iPod. What’s amazing with the iPhone is the integration of a Wi-Fi internet connection that lets you browse the internet using a wireless network .
Apple has also removed several Apps from its iTunes store recently causing further confusion. Subscribers who have purchased such an App can no longer get updates. Apple’s choice of cellphone networks would obligate it to use a particular form of 3G known as High-Speed Download Packet Access (HSDPA). At first, this would seem to be something of a misstep: the standard has barely lifted off the ground in the Cupertino-based company’s home turf. Apple is amazing with their marketing tactics I got to say. But at this point I’m pissed off it this phone.
Apple warranty, and that FIC obviously doesn’t warrant that users hacking on its phone will get a replacement if they fry or damage it. If one wants to hack on their phone, the Neo1973 doesn’t really offer anything that the iPhone doesn’t, apart from support for Microsoft’s Windows Mobile. Apple is notorious for releasing hardware only to upgrade it within months or make the first versions obsolete with it’s software. They do it with their computers and they do it with the iPod, what makes anyone think they would not do it with the iPhone? Apple; AT&T are only allowing the purchasing and ordering of Iphone 3G through primary stores in the major cities. This limits access for the elderly, handicapped, people with health issues and the rural populace.
Apple customer service told me they would have nothing to do with me if I hadn’t bought AppleCare; this for a brand-new computer that cost more than $2,000 and had a cut-and-dried factory defect. Apple Inc’s newly launched iPhone is one of the hottest commodities on the mobile phone market today. Even months before the versatile mobile phone was launched, it had created so much buzz. It some respects it does live up to it’s hype and was a greatly improved phone over the first generation. I can only see the iPhone getting better as more customer data is generated on what works and what doesn’t. In North America the phone does laps around other’s in form and function. It’s worth the investment if you are big into functionality and style!

Anonymous proxy servers are used by people for different reasons which include: keeping businesses anonymous, securely connecting to the Internet when traveling, and protecting personal privacy. An anonymous proxy is used for all three purposes by hiding your IP address and encrypting your connection; allowing you to be invisible while you surf the Internet.

Anonymous surfing for business use is ideal for many different reasons. Most websites record your IP address and can tell where you are surfing from, your port number, and a lot of other information. Proxy servers allow you to remain anonymous while researching competitors, since they have no record of your IP address. You can also bypass restrictive posting limits and anonymously publicize on your own website without breaking any spamming policies. Anonymous proxies can also save company money since you don’t have to hire someone to post for you. Since your IP address is like your ID card for the Internet, websites and forums block you based on your IP address. You can unblock yourself from sites where you might have been previously banned since you will be surfing with a fresh IP address.

As a traveler anonymous surfing is important too. You might want to use the Internet in a local hotel or an airport that offers high speed internet. These are the most common places people are hacked since most of those lines are unsecured and can be easily infiltrated. Someone sitting across from you at the local Starbucks can hack your connection without disrupting your system. You can now check your finances or other sensitive information, worry-free, since anonymous proxy servers protect all of your wireless activities when you are in a hotel or an airport. Your connection is secured with data encryption.

Anonymous proxy surfing is the best way to maintain personal privacy on the Internet. Surfing through a proxy can protect all of your personal information and thwart identity thieves. Identity theft can occur by having your sensitive information snooped through an unsecured connection, or by tracking your IP address. An anonymous proxy can also stop marketing companies and search engines from tracking and recording your surfing habits. Anyone trying to track you will not be able to tell your location because anonymous proxy servers will mask your IP and make it look like you are surfing from a different location.

Anonymous surfing provides total protection for personal use, business use, and traveling. You can rest assured no one is tracking your online activities when you are surfing the web, or sniffing personal information from an unsecured connection. Your data will be encrypted and secured, and the only information a company can track is what the server allows them to.

Have you heard about that new virus that just came out but you’re not worried because you have a firewall? A common misconception among computer users is that firewalls block viruses. But here is the scary news…they don’t!

A firewall is software-based or hardware-based protection that blocks malicious attacks on your computer from coming through over the internet. But don’t viruses come over the internet so a firewall should block them, correct? You’re right, but the difference is that viruses and spyware infect your computer by human interaction done on your part. Meaning, you might view an infected picture or visit a bad website, or open up an infected email for example. Anti-virus software protects you from these situations, but not a firewall.

So what is a firewall you ask? Computers have ports that they can communicate through…65,535 to be exact. A firewall will block communication to every one of those ports except the ones you specify it unblock. For example, if you connect to your company VPN from on your computer, you would only need port 1723 unblocked. By blocking all ports but port 1723, a hacker only has 1 port to try to hack through instead of trying to hack 65,535 ports. This just made his job MUCH harder!

The good news is with today’s technology you probably already have a firewall protecting your computer. Most routers (either wired or wireless) that connect to your broadband modem come with a firewall. By default, routers have the firewall turned on, but check the router settings to make sure it is currently protecting your network. If it’s not enabled, enable it and then specify the ports you want to have open.

What if you don’t have a router? In Windows XP and Windows Vista, they both come with a software firewall installed. Software firewalls do the same thing as hardware firewalls but may not have the advanced features such as logging activity or notifying you if it suspects harmful activity. However, software firewalls are better than no firewall at all

.I’ll install several firewalls on my computer so I’m protected better!! This is a myth and is not correct. As I previously stated, firewalls close all ports but ones you specify, adding another firewall to your network just means you have to specify on that firewall the ports you need open. So two firewalls doing the same thing will not protect you any better but just slow down your network since data being transmitted through your network is having to be looked at by both firewalls, therefore I highly recommend you make sure your not running two or more firewalls.

While I prefer hardware based firewalls because of the advanced features they have, I have seen some very good software based firewalls. Hardware firewalls I prefer are WatchGuard, SonicWALL, Untangle, Check Point and Netgear. While software firewalls I recommend are ZoneAlarm, Norton and McAfee. No matter who you choose, you can rest assured that you’re making the life of a hacker a lot harder!If you would like some help on installing a firewall, be sure to check out Fast Support Online

Mr. Felix Deepak [HOD, Dept. of IT, Shekhawati Group of Institutions, Sikar(Raj.)]

Introduction:

Commerce refers to all the activities surrounding the purchase or sale of goods or services. As we step into the next century, the trend toward smaller and faster devices, coupled with the need for information access on the move.

Mobile computing promises to bring unpredictable change in the society. Spanning the entire globe, crossing all boundaries.

Mobile commerce is the application of communication and information sharing technologies among trading partners to the business objectives. Means mobile commerce is associated with mobile phone and communication network.

Mobile commerce is a new way of conducting managing and executing business transactions using mobile and communication network.

Advantages of Mobile Commerce:

The increasing usage of mobile has given use to application like shopping through mobile, mobile banking etc. where people can buy anything online. Customers do not have to wait in lines, and this provides a lower hassle environment.

Objectives of The Study:

Methodology:

In this paper relevant literature, information and data have been used from the published books, mobile forum sites and magazines like PCQuest, Developer IQ, Computer Today etc.

Final Accounts:

Final Accounts is one of the most important topics, because it contains Trading Account, Profit & Loss Accounts and Balance Sheet. This Final Accounts will create after the preparation of the Trial Balance.

Trading Account shows the Gross Profit or Gross Loss.

Profit & Loss shows the Net Profit or Net Loss.

Balance Sheet shows the financial position of the business.

Software Requirement for Develop this Application:

J2ME

J2ME:

There is five major cell phone platforms available today, such as Symbian, Windows CE mobile, BREW, WAP and J2ME. Depending on the problem to be solved and resources, a particular platform may required.

J2ME enables Java applications to run on small, resource constrained computing devices. It is not a new language, rather it adapts existing Java technology for handheld and embedded devices.

J2ME is intended for Java programmers writing applications for devices with limited memory resources and processor power, such as cell phone, Personal Data Assistants (PDA) etc.

Frame Work for Develop this Application:

First we create the final account in accounting package (Tally). Than export the data from accounting package to ‘Txt’ format and than save it.

Copy ‘Txt’ file into SDCard or Memory Card of the mobile device.

Create the program in J2ME for reading the text data from the file.

When we run this application in mobile, it will automatically read the final account data from the ‘Txt’ file.

Application Development (Code):

startMIDlet()

{

            Try

            {

                        FileConnection fc=(FileConnection)Connector.open(file://localhost/root1/data.txt);

InputStream is=fc.openInputStream();

Byte b[]=new byte[1024];

Int length=is.read(b,0,1024);

System.out.println(“content is”+new String(b,0,length);

}

Catch(Exception e)

{

}

Limitation:

This package has some limitation, like

These reasons motivate the need for a new set of application.

Conclusion:

Now a day the traditional way of creating final account is giving way to the accounting software packages. With the wide spread of technology this transformation is inevitable. It is obvious that transferring the data over the mobile device is future of exchange mechanism. It will surely condense many of the prevailing inconveniences.

The Department of Justice believes this to be the largest hacking and identity theft case ever. The suspects were charged with conspiracy, fraud, computer intrusion, and identity theft. The culprits apparently hacked into wireless computer networks of retailers such as Barnes & Noble, Sports Authority, BJ’s Wholesale Club, DSW and others. They set up programs, which captured card numbers, passwords, and account information.

Three of the people charged were from the U.S. The others were from Estonia, Belarus, China, and the Ukraine.

Protecting Yourself

Your debit card is your lifeline. You use it whenever you need to make a purchase and stick it back into your wallet without a care in the world until it’s gone; you’ve misplaced it; or it has been stolen.

With the right information, anyone can use your debit card to withdraw money, make a purchase at a local retailer, gas station, or restaurant. Although many establishments have signs posted that require identification, many don’t ever enforce it, especially during busy periods. The truth is that debit cards can open the door for someone to quickly and easily steal your money and/or your identity.

Debit cards require that you notify the card issuer within two business days after loss or theft to receive a $50 liability. Any longer than that and your loss could be up to $500. Over 60 days, and you many not get anything back.

Here are a few tips to protect your debit card information

Debit cards are a very SAFE way to spend money and get cash. In fact Debit cards are one of the safest ways of traveling with cash. It is important though to use caution whenever using your debit card just as you would when using any other method of payment. Following the above steps will help reduce your risk of debit card fraud and allow you to use your debit card safely and securely.

Since more group are logging on top of the Internet everyday, Network Security becomes a superior spring. Taking part in the United States, identity theft and supercomputer fraud are amongst the fastest rising crimes. It is weighty to shield your group and ensure the safety of all computers and users in with the purpose of group.What is a Network?Taking part in order to fully understand group security, solitary be obliged to firstly understand what did you say? Exactly a group is. A group is an assembly of computers with the purpose of is connected. Computers can be connected in a variety of ways. Some of these ways include a USB seaport, phone line connection, Ethernet connection, or a wireless connection. The Internet is basically a group of networks. An Internet Service Provider (ISP) is plus a group. When a supercomputer connects to the internet, it joins the ISP’s group which is together with a variety of other networks, which are together with even more networks, and so on. These networks all take in the Internet. The vast amount of computers on the Internet, and the come to of ISPs and copious networks makes group security a be obliged to.Common Network Security BreechesHackers often try to hack into vulnerable networks. Hacker’s employment a variety of altered attacks to cripple a group. Whether you control a back home group or a LAN, it is weighty to know how hackers will attack a group.One collective way in support of a hacker to do havoc is to pull off access to things with the purpose of ordinary users shouldn’t control access to. Taking part in a few group, administrators control the knack to promote to convinced parts of the group “unauthorized access.” If a hacker is able to profit access to a protected area of the group, he or she can perhaps affect all of the computers on the group. Some hackers attempt to break into convinced networks and make available viruses with the purpose of affect all of the computers in the group. Some hackers can plus look at in a row with the purpose of they are not rumored to see to it that.Destructive AttacksThere are two major categories in support of destructive attacks to a group. Data Diddling is the firstly attack. It as a rule is not the minute visible with the purpose of something is unsuitable with your supercomputer what time it has been subjected to a data diddler. Data diddlers will by and large trade records or annals to some extent, and the impairment becomes visible much soon after. Once a catch is bare, it can be very challenging to trust a few of your preceding data as the culprit might control potentially fooled with many altered credentials.The go along with type of data destruction is outright deletion. Some hackers will simply hack into a supercomputer and delete essential annals. This as anticipated causes major problems in support of a few problem and can even have an advantage to a supercomputer being deemed useless. The Importance of Network SecurityKnowing how destructive hackers can be shows you the meaning of Network Security. Most networks control firewalls enabled with the purpose of bar hackers and viruses. Having anti-virus software on all computers in a group is obliged to. Taking part in a group, all of the computers are connected, so with the purpose of if solitary supercomputer gets a virus, all of the other computers can be adversely affected by this same virus. Any group administrator is supposed to control all of the essential annals on back up disks. If a parade is deleted by a hacker, but you control it on back up, so therefore in attendance is veto spring. When annals are lost forever, major problems ensue. Network security is a weighty phenomenon in support of a problem, or a back home. Hackers try to promote to people’s lives challenging, but if you are keen in support of them, your group will be safe.

You can visit a mobile service centre and they should be able to reset the lock code for a small fee. Alternatively you could try entering the lock code incorrectly 3 times or until it asks for your PUK code. Once it asks for your PUK code, you can enter it and your lock code should be reseted to default settings (maybe 12345). This is the case with alot of Nokia phones, but it could erase your contacts. To be safe, you might be better off going using my first suggestion.

The wireless providers use either the SIM card number from GSM providers (Cingular and T-Mobile) or the ESN number on a device (Verizon and Sprint) to associate your wireless number. These numbers should never be given out to anyone except your provider (or authorized reseller). I can’t imagine why a game company needs your IMEI number, except because they may put that into a database to associate you with the “license” he is providing to you. There is no way that he can track your IMEI since it is not sent through anything wirelessly. Personally, I would not send your actual IMEI. I would take a look at your IMEI on your device and then change the last three or four digits and send that to him. He won’t know the difference, believe me. It’s the first 5-7 digits or so that identify the type of device, so if you tell him you have a Motorola Razr, for example, and he knows anything about IMEI’s, he will know that the Razr’s IMEI starts with 3571234, for example (not real, just an example).

In this case, sending the IMEI number should be fine. The person needs it to prevent software piracy. Each phone has a unique number to identify it, so once the person has your IMEI number, the passcode will only work for your phone. Its just a safeguard to prevent you from passing the game onto someone else.
An IMEI number is also used to disable a phone, so for example your phone was stolen, if you were to contact your network provider quoting your IMEI number, they’ll be able to disable the phone, so whoever has it wont be able to use it, even if they were to place their own sim card into it. Of course, I’m sure network providers ask security questions first to make sure you were the owner of the phone.

Your IMEI number is a unique number that identifies your phone. For example, if I had that number I could remotely hack into your phone and empty your credits.

Through no fault of your own and without you even knowing it, you could become the victim of identity theft because of a data breach. In January of 2008 information was released about a back up data tape containing credit card information from hundreds of U.S. retailers and how it went missing from a secure storage facility. Even more alarming was that the tape was unencrypted.

The company responsible for the data was forced to warn customers that they may become victims of data fraud. The tape contained in-store credit card details on 650,000 retail customers. A total of 230 retail companies were affected by the breach and some are national retail organizations. The tape also contained Social Security numbers of 150,000 people and your social Security number is the absolute way to identity theft. When an identity thief can match a name and address to a Social Security number, illegal credit card accounts, among other things, can be arranged.

In 2006, a very large retailer that operates over 2,000 retail stores discovered that thieves had broken into it’s computer networks and made off with an estimated 94 million credit and debit-card numbers. The computer breach was on a portion of its network that handles credit card, debit card, check, and merchandise transactions in the U.S. and is now believed to have happened through the hacking of open wireless routers at subsidiaries of the company.

Another way of putting it is that the thieves intercepted wireless transfers of customer information. How do you, as an ordinary consumer defend against open wireless routers. (NAWAZ, PLEASE LINK LIFELOCK TO THESE WORDS) Police in Turkey have apparently arrested a man allegedly attempting to sell information stolen from the big retailer. The Ukrainian National was taken into custody at a Turkish nightclub and he is believed to be a significant player in the stolen information as a reseller. U.S. authorities will most likely attempt to extradite the man. Data breaches will continue to occur because of the human factor. Protect yourself.

A consumer data broker business that is a publicly traded company had to pay $10 million in civil penalties and $5 million in consumer redress to settle Federal Trade Commission charges that its security and record handling procedures violated consumers’ privacy rights and federal laws. More than 163,000 consumers in its database had been compromised. This publicly traded company gathers and sells personal information of consumers, including their names, Social Security numbers, birth dates, employment information, and credit histories.

FTC Chairman Deborah Platt Majoras stated: “Consumers’ private data must be protected from thieves.” The FTC alleges that the company did not have reasonable procedures in place to screen those customers that they sold sensitive personal identifying information to. The FTC further alleges that some of the people that were approved to receive the delicate information lied about their credentials and actually used commercial mail drops as business addresses. As well, some of those applying for the personal identifying information reportedly used fax machines at public commercial locations to send multiple applications for purportedly separate companies.

According to the FTC, the company failed to strengthen its application approval process or monitor its customers even after receiving subpoenas from law enforcement authorities alerting the company to fraudulent activity going back to 2001.

It was further alleged that the company violated the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) by providing consumer reports - credit histories to customers who did not have a permissible purpose to obtain them, and by failing to maintain reasonable procedures to verify their identities and how they intended to use the information. The settlement requires the company to implement new procedures that will make sure that only legitimate businesses receive the credit reports and that the reports be used only for lawful purposes.

The company must also establish a comprehensive information security program and receive audits from independent third-party security professionals every other year until 2026. The FTC will monitor for compliance via compulsory record keeping and reporting provisions.

Further, the company is required to verify the identity of businesses that apply to receive consumer reports and must, in some cases make site visits to certain business premises and monitor some of their customers use of consumer reports. The $10 million in civil penalties was the largest in FTC history.

One of the most asked questions we receive at Search4cellphonedeals.com is can I use any unlocked cell phone for my carrier? The short answer is, no you cannot. There are several things to consider before you run out and buy an unlocked cell phone.

First let’s look at what an unlocked cell phone is. Some cell phones are designed to use a Subscriber Identification Module card or SIM card for short. A SIM card is a microchip that stores subscriber data. The SIM card is issued by a carrier and provides cell service by activating any phone into which it is inserted. A locked cell phone, however, will only recognize a SIM card from a particular carrier. If the cell phone is unlocked, it will recognize a SIM card from any carrier. The “lock” is a software setting that keeps the cell phone “loyal” to one carrier. This is done by the major carriers to ensure you don’t get a FREE cell phone under a two-year contract and then not pay on the contract and use that cell phone with another provider. It is in this way that the cell phone providers can justify giving individuals a FREE cell phone that would have otherwise cost the consumer money.

There are plenty of places that sell unlocked cell phones but simply buying one of these phones does not guarantee that it will work with your carrier. Before buying an unlocked cell phone, you have to know what network your cellular provider operates on. There are two here in the United States. The first is Global Systems for Mobile Communications or GSM for short. If your cell phone has a SIM card, your provider uses GSM. Currently carriers on the GSM network include, AT&T Wireless and T-Mobile. Typically if you buy an unlocked cell phone any SIM card should work equally as well in that phone regardless of the provider. The other network is called Code Division Multiple Access or CDMA for short. CDMA phones do not have a SIM card and thus even if you purchase an unlocked CDMA cell phone you still have to get your carrier to activate it for you. The drawback here is that the provider still decides if you can use a specific cell phone. Currently carriers using CDMA in the United States include Verizon Wireless, Alltel Wireless and Sprint PCS.

The easiest way to determine if your provider will let you use an unlocked cell phone you have your eye on is to simply call them. Every provider has an 800 number that can be obtained by simply going to their web site. This is especially important for anyone who is considering buying an unlocked CDMA cell phone.

Unlocked cell phones have become so in demand that there are now companies out there that will unlock your cell phone for a fee. The fee varies by company and again may or may not free up your cell phone to be used elsewhere. There are also numerous hacking sites on the web that will show you how to unlock your phone, but be warned, the carriers will render a cell phone that is determined to be unlocked improperly inoperable. If you want an unlocked cell phone, the best thing to do is to buy one from a reputable company.

Now that you know the facts, start looking for your dream cell phone. Remember it is probably best to leave your locked cell phone alone and look elsewhere for an unlocked cell phone that will work best with your GSM (if you have a SIM card) or CDMA cell phone. Avoid the places that tell you any unlocked phone will work with any carrier and be sure to double-check with your provider before you finalize your purchase. It’s your money, spend it wisely.

Home security cameras provide homeowners a peaceful mind regarding their personal property, loved ones and pets. Almost everyone can get a home security camera as it is affordable and also very simple to install.
So, why do we need to use one of these cameras? These cameras let the owners of the house know what is happening in their house or on their property. Keeping an eye on the teenagers, service people and caregivers can also be other reasons.
The first affordable cameras of this version were called the nanny cameras. As technology progressed, the images that these cameras captured were much better. The home security cameras send images to the base station to let the person view via a computer, television or a cell phone. Nanny cameras might not have encryption but they are easy to use and small in size. These unencrypted signals that are wireless are easy to hack.
Monitoring loved ones by using the home security camera is something that has been happening for quite some time now. The nanny cameras keep a track of what is been happening to your children when you are not at home. These cameras are used for old people, infants, aging parents and people who are ill.
An inexpensive and easy way to keep a watch on the pets can be the home security camera. These cameras make sure that your pets are not getting in to a mess or getting into anything that is harmful to them.
The home security cameras can be used to monitor any part of the house or also the home business. Surveillance equipments need to be utilized to monitor those areas outside your house where animals or your personal property which includes certain equipments of your house may be kept.
When you are going to choose one of these security cameras you need to keep in mind your needs and your budget. If secret surveillance is required for small areas then the simple web camera or the nanny camera can be used. These are of low cost.
Kits are available for those who need to monitor the entire house. Home owners need to choose kits that are most appropriate for their needs and layout. Both wire less and wired security cameras are got nowadays.
It makes it much easier for you if you install your home security cameras when you start building your house rather than fix it up later while you are remodeling it. By making use of the wireless technology you can remove the problems relating to wiring. Many of the homeowners do use wireless connections. These also operate in the same way. Advances in their security make it more efficient and simpler.
The home security cameras lets its users protect and maintain their property.

The November through January holiday season is that time of year when we all start getting those emails that want to purloin our secret codes and passwords. You know the ones that have subject lines like: “Your Account Is About To Be Closed,” “There’s A Block On Your Account,” “Could You Help Me Claim My Funds,” or my all-time favorite “Congratulations – You’ve Won The UK Lottery.” Unfortunately, some of us see these emails throughout the year.

First and foremost, DON’T FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS IN THE EMAIL! If you think there might be a problem, access the account in question as you normally do on your PC and not with the link supplied in the phony email. In fact, don’t even open the email, because many are just set to loose a virus program on your computer by being opened. Simply forward the suspicious email to the “spoof email” address supplied by your bank, or Credit Card Company. Otherwise, you may need to seek IDT Insurance to help you recover from identity theft losses.

Here are some other tips to help you:

In my next article, I’ll give you the other five very important tips for preventing your identity from being stolen. Even after you observe all of these tips, you may still become an identity theft victim. What can you do as a victim of the identity theft crime? To find the answer this question, Click here.
