 I would like to know, if there is something I can do, to solve this? It is a dell. I review medical charts, so it is definitely hippa oriented, but it is very agravating, when you are in a strange city, and need to drive all over town looking for a wireless signal, cause your lap top thinks the hotel internet is intruding. Is there an adapter of sort I can get? I easily log onto Panara’s, or McDonald’s wifi, no problem.   I downloaded the trial edition of Adobe photoshop elements – the file is 1.24GB, and only 120MB has downloaded!  So some idiot on total drama wiki blocked me. I tried making another account but it won’t work. Different computer and different wifi doesn’t work. How do I get back on? Computer  I’m planning to buy an iPod touch, but my music collection is huge.   I am a student in a University. My only way of connecting to the internet is through my University’s WIFI (Wireless Internet). In the past, I can download files through Azureus (Torrent) and Limewire (P2P). However, yesterday, the school did some upgrading on the system. When I tried using Azureus and Limewire, it no longer connects. I just want to know if there are ways to make these programs work using my University’s WIFI system, which as it seems, blocks them from connecting. Thank you very much!   Ok, these are 2 questions in one :) First of about internet speed. I got wimax and when i plug in lan cable in other pc or lap top it works perfectly but in mine speed is terrible. I got 2mbit connection but in mine its like 400kbs. And now about format. And beside installed programs and files I got, what other important things should I back up before formating because I don’t want to screw something up for later, like missing drivers or some pc part not working :s Oh and no, I will not take it to service for this.   i use WiFi now but some of my programs, when they check for updates, they prefer the DSL connection. How do I make them STOP doing that and start using the wireless net connection?  Ok, so I am looking at two different computer,Studio XPS 16 and Studio 17. Processor,Operating System, Warranty, Hard Drive, and battery are the same. The only difference I see in the specs is the Wireless card for XPS is Intel© Centrino© Advanced-N + WiMAX 6250 and for Studio Intel© Centrino© Advanced-N 6200. The Video card difference for XPS is ATI Mobility RADEON® HD 4670 – 1GB and for STUDIO 1GB ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4650. the STUDIO has a webcam and is 235 dollars cheaper. WHICH IS THE BETTER DEAL? I don’t want to have to be on internet explorer because it is blocked on my computer but is there some type of computer program that will work. I have WiFi on my computer and my parents said that if i could find a legit program to text from my computer I can use it. I have a Clearwire 4g Wimax card. When I ran a speedtest to the closest server to me I get 1.34Mbps.When I switch to a speedtest server 300 miles from me(just an example), I get 5.45Mbps. With that type of speed(the second server), I should not be lagging on Xbox Live, and it should not take me 2 hours to download a 700MB file. Any suggestions on why I cant seem to access all of the available speed for Xbox Live or even any browsers in general? I can connect to this program on my PC called (remote control suite) via WIFI on my home network with my iphone webrowser by typing http://(my PC IP address):88. However, I can’t connect to it when outside my local network or using my 3G internet data plan on my iphone. This program creates an ir (infa-red) remote controller to change channels on my tv cable box that is accessible via a url so I can change the channel remotely. I have a scientific atlantic modem, lynksys WRT54G router and a HP PC. I tried to follow some port forwarding info I found online by finding out all my equipments IP’s etc. but with no success. Any instructions would be great! I am using the following wireless adapter: Intel WiMAX/WiFi Link 5150 (AGN) I am on a Lenovo ThinkPad T500, running Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit. I have tried to install the XP driver for the wireless card within XP Mode, but that did nto resolve the issue, other than that i see a message in the lower right that there is an adapter problem which is that the driver cannot be found. Using the Network Passthrough (NAT) network setting does nto resolve this, as it still needs the driver so that it can detect the wireless card. Any suggestions on how to fix this? The real thing is that my school lets you bring your laptop but if you want to enter to the school wifi, you need to give them the pc ready were the password is ready to be written, and then they wrote it. In other words you give to the “technicians” your pc and they wrote the password. Is there a program that lets you see the password after you have enter it. I just moved to Chattaroy, Washington (zip 99003) and need something other than satellite for my MagicJack and my husband’s wii. I can’t find any cable providers and don’t know much about internet. We need a high speed connection to get any online games working for my husband, and while our satellite is “high speed”, it’s not good enough for what we want to do. Is there any other way to get high speed in my area? I know there are several connection types and such, but don’t know what all is needed. The problem is that we pretty much live in the middle of nowhere. Please help us! First person to give us a provider out here will be given best answer. In our room we connect to the internet using cat5 cables and some common areas have wifi. Is there a program or some setting I might be able to use to successfully download things via torrent w/o getting caught??  We moved and we switched our internet service to CLEAR.. well we have 2 comps and this one is the main where we have the CLEAR directly connected and when we bought it the guy said that if we have a wireless router on the second comp then it can connect to the CLEAR modem. But it’s not working? The wireless router we have isn’t CLEAR (linksys) and we also have 2wire. While trying to fix the problem (and getting little to no help from the customer service) we came across something called bridging? Would we need to do that with this? And also it says that it’s Wimax..(the CLEAR) don’t really know what that means. So yeah. help please? I’m dying w/o internet and obviously I’m not all that comp smart so dumb it down please haha?  Is it possible to use the Samsung i760 just as a wifi-enabled PDA without using the phone or connecting to a phone provider? Is is possible to use just with Skype or another voip program? As I see it there are two separate security issues when it comes to wireless networking (wifi not wimax). First is the ability to stop a freeloader from your WAN and start piggybacking off of your nickel. I believe this is what WEP and WPA are for, correct? In other words blocking an unauthorized user on your wifi wan. Secondly, a more serious concern, is the ability to snoop into your WAN and see all data traffic. Sensitive things such as cred card numb, pswds stuff like that. Does WEP and WPA and WAP apply here too? If not then what does? VPNs is one solution. I’m a bit confused to which to apply when. Thanks! my router is part of a community free wifi program. i have ip adress i just need the administrator password.. and its on a 30 ft. pole!!!! I am trying out a new Wi MAX service. They gave me their wireless receiver which is a Sewonintech Wi MAX CPE router. I connected my Netgear router to the Wi MAX router and my computer to the Netgear router. The Netgear router has an IP address of 10.0.0.1, visible from the computer. The Wi Max router issued the Netgear modem an IP address of 192.168.1.2. The network address on the Wimax router is 192.168.1.1. However, even with these setups I am unable to connect to the internet. I can ping the Netgear router as well as the Wi MAX router with no problems. I bypassed the Netgear router and connected the computer directly to the Wi MAX router. The computer was issued a new IP address and I was able to connect to the internet immediately and with no problems. The source of the problem seems to be the Netgear router here. The Netgear router works flawlessly with my old cable modem. When I setup my network to run through my cable modem, I am able to access the internet with no problems. I’m looking for any guidance I can get to resolve this issue. Thanks, |
