Will it make my connection via my 54MBs 802.11a/b/g network card any faster with the 54MBs 802.11a/b/g router I have or do I need a new nework card carrying 802.11n to benefit?

If I have a wireless access point that supports 802.11n and 802.11g modes, and I use a 802.11g device, will I be able to benefit from the extra range that an 802.11n router provides?
