I have a Mac and a PC. I am planning to change my internet service to another, but the service I want says that it is only compatible with PC’s. The question is if I buy a router and hook it up to the modem will the Mac get the WiFi signal and [...] I live in an apartment complex and my laptop picks up about 3 wifi signals with different names. I kind of piggyback off these internet wifi signals but they’re all about only 2 bars and they’re slow. Is there any accessory I can buy to increase the signal strength for my laptop? I recently got cricket wireless broadband. It has a wireless usb modem, no router. There is a place on the modem to plug in a “signal booster” or “antenna”, I am not sure what to call it. Please help, what do I need to hook it up to to make it faster? I want to measure the value of RSS of a WiFi access point using a Java programming code . so that i can use those values fr further calculations of my project .. Any of you guy have any idea abt it? This is too slow, and satelite connections are far too expensive for me. So, I need to determine if I can get a WiFi or WiMax signal. How do I check for this signal? Another odd thing is that every 45 min or so the internet will go very fast for about 10 min. Then it crashes. This has only happen over the past few days. The icon on my bottum right indicates a very strong signal, I’m connected to the internet, plus 48Mbps. That should be fast. I have a friend with a laptop who doesn’t have security on his signal. And we wanted to know if anyone that picks up and uses his signal to access the internet could send him a virus or cost him money or affect him in anyway. And How? |
